Omagh woman Nuala Kerr has won the Belfast Telegraph Mum of the Year award, sponsored by Irwin’s Bakery at the recent Belfast Telegraph Woman of the Year Awards, in association with Dixons of Coleraine. Nuala lost her beloved son, PSNI Constable Ronan Kerr, in a terrorist attack earlier this year. Judges of the awards praised Nuala’s strength in reaching beyond the grief and anguish to speak with remarkable courage about her son and why his death should not be in vain. Nuala went on to win the overall prestigious 2011 Belfast Telegraph Woman of the Year award.

Nuala received her award from Colette Wilson, Marketing Manager at Irwin's Bakery.
The awards, which are in their fifth year, brought together an array of exceptional women from across Northern Ireland, at a glittering gala ceremony in the Ramada Plaza Hotel Belfast, to celebrate the achievements of all nominees and recognise the inspirational winners. Guests were entertained by Festival Brass Band, a fashion show by Menarys and David Meade from the BBC show the David Meade Project.
