Irwin’s Bakery sees a large amount of requests for donations and products each year. Unfortunately, we are not able to give to all charities but where we can help, we will.
This year we have chosen Helping Hand. This charity was established by employees of the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. It aims to provide the best equipment, aid towards research, education and to support the immediate needs of children and their parents.
Having developed a good reputation for sums donated in the past, £12,000 to MacMillan Cancer Support, the staff at Irwin’s are always on the lookout for fun and interesting ways to raise money.
Our fund-raising activities include:
· Tea/Coffee morning
· Football event and BBQ
· Employees Mickey Ferran and Gareth King are raising money for an Abseil Climb down the Obel building!
To date, we have provided iPads to all wards and to some special individual patients where it has been shown that programmes available can aid long term rehabilitation. We have also upgraded beds and cots in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and several other wards. This will aid towards improved safe examination and better manoeuvrability.

September 2013 saw two of Irwins Bakery employees take to the ropes in aid of our charity Helping Hand. Michael Ferran and Gareth King gathered the courage to abseil the Obel building which stands 279 foot tall. Michael and Gareth set up their own just giving fundraiser page where anyone could go on and donate to such a good cause.
WELL DONE BOYS!!!
